Proverbs 31 Woman:Rubies
"A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies." Proverbs 31:10 NIV
The Virtuous Woman...she is the one we aspire to as wives and mothers. This series of posts will focus on how you can help yourself be the "Proverbs 31 Woman" in tiny steps. I will discuss what it means, how to live it, and give you ideas and projects to help you in your walk.
Can you just imagine being worth more than rubies? What if your husband let you know you were worth more to him than the one material thing he values most? Do you feel that way today? Do you look that way today? Have you been treating yourself as if you are a valuable person? Have you taken TIME for YOURSELF?
When WAS the last time you pampered yourself?
The economy has hit rock bottom. This project will be one which uses what you have! Today we are going to make ourselves feel like we are valuable. First, let your husband know that you are taking a little me time. You may need to schedule a time. Work out with your husband a time when he can spend time with the kids, OUT of the house. Suggest they go to the park. Pack them some snacks or a nice lunch. Remember we are doing this with what we have. You don't need to spend a bunch of money! They will be eating lunch anyway, so why not put it in a bag and send them to the park! The fresh air will do them all good!
Gather your supplies ahead of time. This way, you won't be scrambling around wasting your alone time finding what you need!
This project is the Pampering Bath!
Gather a candle or two, they don't need to be new! Grab that candle your brother's girlfriend gave you for Christmas that has been sitting in the closet since December! Borrow the candle from the kitchen! If you HAVE to, get one from a dollar store.
Next, find some bubble bath. Was there bubble bath that came with that candle last year??? If you don't have any, use shampoo or shower gel, I do it all the time!
Ok, how about that book or magazine you have been wanting to start, or even better, get out your iPod or radio and put on some music that YOU like.
Now, put these items in the bathroom so you know where they are.
Once you have the family prepared, synch yourself and your husband's timing so that when they come home, you are pampered, refreshed, and ready to be with them!
Once they are gone, head to the bath and draw yourself a tubful of relaxation. Turn on the music, light the candle, turn down the light, shut the door and hop(figuratively of course)in!
Enjoy and think about your worth to your husband and children. You are the anchor of their lives. You can submit yourself to your husband while still maintaining this role. The Bible is very clear about this.
"Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything."
Ephesians 5:22-23
"Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God."
Titus 2:4-5
Now try to let go of all those little things your husband does that you feel the need to be in control of and let the Lord speak to YOU. Open yourself to His Gentle teaching. Being controlling is a prideful character trait.
"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."
Proverbs 16:18
Put your pride away and allow God to replace it with love and blessings for you to shower upon your husband.
Once your time is up, dress and prepare yourself to shower your family with blessings!
